Changi Airport is an underground station located under Changi Airport. Because this serves as the airport's main transportation, it serves on average 4799 passengers per day.

History

Before the MRT line, taxis and buses served the transportation for the airport. Later when the East West Line was constructed, buses went to stations like Bedok and Pasir Ris. This was then unsuccessful so they planned for a new MRT line. It came to be to have a branch line. The line line would've have Expo and Changi Airport. Strangely, the line opened a few weeks after this station opened. However, taxi drivers lost 20% of sales.

Incidents:

• On 24 July 2002, a glass panel of the atria wall shattered. The area was quickly closed off, but train services were not affected.
• On 24 September 2003, a man died at the station, apparently having fallen five stories from the departure hall.
• On 17 January 2020, the rail operator SMRT said that it had found a crack in the crossing at Changi Airport MRT Station, found during inspection works in the morning. Trains have to be diverted to only one platform and have to travel at a slower speed as they approach the affected crossing.
