Jurong East is an interchange station located around the Jurong East area. It is connected by the East West and North South Line.
History[]
Jurong East station was opened on November 1988. It wasn't an interchange until 10th of March, 1990.

Future extension[]
As confirmed, in 2027 Jurong East will have another line connected to it which is the Jurong Region Line. This makes it an interchange of 3 lines, similarly to Dhoby Ghaut as well as Punggol (Future). It will have the new code of JE5.
Trivia[]
Jurong obtained its name from Sungei Jurong, a channel that runs into the Jurong lake. But there are several possible things that the word “jurong” could refer to. In Malay, the word “Jurong” could mean “shark”, “gorge”, or “corner”.[1]
