Woodlands is both an elevated and underground station on the North South Line and the Thomson-East Coast Line.
History[]
In 1990, the government thought of bringing the Branch Line to the North South Line. Construction commenced in 1991, with Woodlands being one of the 4 new stations, expanding to 6 later on. Due to numerous accidents where passengers fell off the platforms, half-height platform screen doors were installed by the Land Transport Authority.
The Thomson-East Coast Line was announced in 2012, with Woodlands being part of Phase 1, from Woodlands North to Woodlands South. Construction started in 2014 with a ceremony, being completed in 2020.
Incidents[]
People on Facebook claimed that the station was closed due to disinfection as there may be COVID-19 on 28 Febuary, 2020. However, these claims were false, and operations continued.
